End User Perspective: The Roll of System and Power Quality Sensors in Integrated Control Systems

System and power quality (PQ) sensors  historically were used for monitoring key points within power systems and generation facilities.  Monitoring key points through these sensors gave  the system operators additional data to make decisions concerning system operation.  However, in recent years senors have become an integral part of the control system framework.  Information that it is used by the control systems as part of their operation.  The sensor in power systems has evolved from a reference for the system operator to information to be acted on by control systems.  Given the enhanced role system and PQ sensors have taken in infrastructure it is important to insure their security from cyber-attacks.  Cyber security of sensors is the subject of this session.
